To startā¦
Now, you might be asking me āALMOST every Jason? What the FREAK do you mean?!ā CHILL BRO. I am simply not including Tom Morga from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. Again, why? because he technically is NOT Jason, he was simply Roy Burns, and the figment of Tommy Jarvisās imagination.
Sorry, dawg, I donāt include nightmare and imposter Jasonās! We only want quality, pristine, authentic Jason around here. Donāt let that get you down, though! I will be going over 7 different actors and compare how they are different and or similar to each other in terms of how they act as Jason!
All of the actors and their Jasonās!
Letās start with the actor who played Jason the MOST: Kane Hodder. Kane played Jason in 5 different movies, those being Friday the 13th part VII, part VIII, Jason goes to hell, and finally, Jason X. Good lord dude, couldn't get enough, huh? (Same, lmao)
What was Kaneās Jason like? Easy: Brutal, Strong, and Creative. He, as Jason has a total of 24,715 kills! His Jasonās are easily the most stubborn Jasonās. All they do is die, and immediately come back, mostly from sheer force of will. And, by technicality, a telekinetic girl named Tina.
Moving on to a very interesting Jason and his actor⦠s? Yes! Jason Voorhees from part II has two actors! Warrington Gillette played the unmasked Jason, and Steve Daskawisz played the masked Jason. This is because the stunts were too difficult for Warrington so Steve took over for him!
Now, his actual Jason? I would describe him as vengeful, despicable, and human! These two did a great job at playing the most alive and arguably most normal Jason out there. While their Jason is not the strongest, nor most agile, some of his kills are creative and absolutely hilarious. I mean, why did he have to do my bro Mark so dirty?!
Moving on to the most iconic Jason of all Jasonās, part 3 Jason. This Icon where Jason gets his hockey mask for the first time is played by Richard Brooker. This was a revolutionary movie with a revolutionary Jason that changed the franchise ENTIRELY! Such a big job for one man, right?
To keep up my theme of describing them in three words, this Richardās Jason gets Iconic, methodical, and menacing. Richardās Jason again is iconic, but this is when supernatural elements comes to play! In this movie, Jasonās first ādeathā comes in and we find out he is basically invincible and got that dawg in him.
Okay now it is officially Ted Whiteās turn, who played as Jason in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Ted white honestly played in such an important movie because it is where the icon himself is introduced: Tommy Jarvis! An on-going character throughout the franchise. Ted started the PTSD single handedly. šŖ
Ted Whites Jason is easily the most PISSED, brooding, and relentless Jason in the game. When I say relentless, I mean RELENTLESS. This beast knows no bounds when it comes to killing his victims mercilessly. And in the most intimidating manner. Once again, weāre in supernatural territory now so thereās no stopping (the A-Train) Jason.
Jason is definitely ālivingā in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, portrayed by CJ Graham. CJ, like the other actors, is a one trick pony with his one movie as Jason. And he made it memorable with his continuing theme of traumatizing Tommy Jarvis and increasing his kill count.
Ah, CJ and his supernatural, zombie, and ridiculously strong Jason slams down the hammer on how resilient Jason truly is. May I remind you of the RV scene? Coming back over and over, overcoming the impossible, this man can do it all. š Forcing homeboy into a back bend and KILLING HIM? Gnarly.
Next up is Ken Kiringer, who broke out of the trilogy and played Jason in Freddy VS Jason! Similar to Kane, Ken played a Jason outside of the original Friday the 13th series and played a Jason for a spin off. Ken also in general fits the Jason vibe incredibly well! (Mmm, beefy)
Although this Jason is still technically a zombie, he is more like a guy who was sleeping for too long. In a coffin. The three words I would use to describe this unique Jason is Juggernaut, mindless, and powerhouse. He is on a MISSION, and that mission is to kill as many people. He is truly portrayed as an emotionless killer in this.
FINALLY, there is Derek Mears who plays Jason in the Friday the 13th 2009 remake! I would say he does get critiqued a touch harder than the other Jasonās simply because he is much newer compared to the 80s actors. Genuinely, he does a great job at portraying Jason in a more modern sense.
THEE survivalist, THEE hunter, THEE moment. This is the best representation of what a modern, more realistic Jason would look like and Derek SERVED. Or should I say slayed? Again, heās not just killing, he is hunting. You can really see how tactful and smart this Jason truly is compared to the others.
The comparison!
From mindless slashing to thoughtful traps, these actors portray it all! In terms of kills they all go absolutely nuts and never hold back! The only time we see Jason even slightly HESITATE on obliterating someone is in part 4 when he just GRABS Tommy but doesnāt kill him, and in Freddy VS Jason when he walks around the camp full of kids and doesnāt kill any of them. Other than that Jason slays any and everything.
One key difference in how all of these Jasons are portrayed, is mostly in their āspeedā! For example, Kenās Jason is a BRUTE but slow! Compared to Derekās Jason who is agile and quick witted, thereās a huge difference between the two! The main similarity is that they are both incredibly powerful (and SMOKIN).
Overall, these Jasonās were portrayed differently- yet the same. They are all vengeful and angry. All they want is to be left alone! All are incredibly strong, but not fast, haha. Despite the lack of agility for some Jasonās, every actor does a great job at showing how much of a tank he truly is.
Finallyā¦
All of these Jasonās and their actors are unique and true to their roles. We wouldnāt have Jason without these amazing people!!! My life would NOT be the same without Friday the 13th.
